Allen, Oliver E.
Born in 1922, Oliver E. Allen was a Harvard graduate and a long-time editor and director of Time-Life Books. In more recent he years, he has written articles for many publications.


A chilling example of the way atmospheric circulation can distribute radioactivity occurred in 1964, when an American satellite carrying plutonium 238 as fuel accidentally burned up over the Indian Ocean: the resulting radioactivity was subsequently detected throughout both hemispheres.
