BRIZIUS MAGIC School & Library Shows David A Brizius magician/entertainer/educator : David is the Fire Safety Educator for Mifflin Township Division of Fire in Gahanna. He has held that position for twenty-five plus years .He conducts over one-hundred and fifty programs yearly using magic to convey my message. He is affectionately known as “Fireman Dave” by all the local children and teachers. David is a fourth generation magician. He received his start in magic when he was 18 months old when he crawled up on stage during one of his father’s shows, needless to say he has been hooked ever since. David has been performing professionally since the age of sixteen and has received several awards for his magic and educational skills from his peers. Along with his wife (Tina) they operate a youth motivation camp each summer called “C.A.M.P.” (Constructing Assured and Motivated People). This past year was the camp’s 51^st year. David is the program director and develops and over sees the activities at C.A.M.P. Last summer Dave began performing library reading shows for the Columbus Metropolitan Library and Central Ohio systems. Using magic he is able to get children (& adults) excited about reading. Listed below are examples of librarian comments: *Really talked up reading—Encouraged kids to check out books on magic by saying the Dewey number was the “magic number”. *Spent time after the program to talk to kids and parents and even encouraged kids to call him if they were interested in magic. Really likes kids and they know it! *Excellent rapport with the kids, asked them to be his helpers and included them in any way he could!
