both got our licenses together. I like CW. I am working to increase my speed.
I listen to code tapes every morning on the way to work. My speed is about
14 or 15 words a minute. It seems no matter how hard I try I don't seem to
get any faster. I am sure it will come with practice and patience. I am using

chemotherapy. She eventually passed away and I find myself yearning for this

pages! I've been licensed since 1976 (WN6YE, back then) when you had to
appear at an FCC office for any test other than novice. I have been inactive
for the last 10+ years as N4EKZ. I used to really enjoy CW on the novice
bands and have spent the last few days letting Morse Academy help me brush
up on my CW skills. I will need to purchase a new rig and put up a dipole
or something, but I am really starting to get that old CW fever again! Sure
wish I knew what I wanted in the way of a rig and antenna. Geez, it has
just been so long and I am really out of the loop. Also here in south Georgia,
there just don't seem to be that many active hams these days. I'm sure it
has nothing to do with the fact that I haven't been looking in some time!
Anyway, look for me on the CW bands before too long (I hope!) ...de James

gets worse and SSB becomes a sort of undifferiented growl, CW becomes more
and more important to me. So I am looking to improve my technique (It can
use it.). I now use CW in over 50% of my contacts, and expect that percent

out your voluminous "Beginner's Guide to Making CW Contacts" and look forward
to studying it along with the material I'm studying for my Tech-to-General
upgrade. I've nursed for many years the ambition to someday become a ham
operator. "Someday" suddenly arrived when I stopped working and moved from
Mattapoisett, MA to Vista, CA in April, 1999. I now have the time to study
the subject and globetrot from my old desk and chair;now become ham shack.
I stumbled onto your web site by happy accident. You have no idea how help-
ful this information is going to be for me. Recently I bought an ancient
rig (Kenwood #TS-520D) and so far have been playingaround with it, just listening.
Code interests me and I'm delaying getting on the air until I can do it
the way I way I always dreamed of ... using Morse Code. You're a good
